Representatives of the Czech Air Defence Army took part in Live Fire Exercises BALT 2009 having taken place near Baltic Sea.
"I am pleased with results of exercises" evaluated course of exercises commander of the 1st Battery of Air Defence Missile Battalion First-Lieutenant Pavel Hanus. Commander of Air Defence Missile Brigade Colonel Josef Slavík emphasized importance of live firing in process of staff mental stability improvement when operators must in very short time intercept and kill real target. "We can never accomplish the same level in a simulator only".
Chief of General Staff Lieutenant-General Vlastimil Picek was also satisfied with course of Live Fire Exercises: "I know simulator based exercises are not sufficient, everyone must go through live firing at least once. You have demonstrate your practices and I am maximum satisfied with results"
Final demonstration was provided with use of RETIA recording and evaluation device PIZZA that serves for evaluation and analysis of staff activities during live firing.
Lieutenant-General Vlastimil Picek put in Air Defence Missile Battalion and Air Defence Missile Brigade Annals following words: „Thank you for your exemplary fulfillment of Live Fire Exercise tasks"
RETIA modernized Surface-to-Air Missile system SA-6 Gainful (2K12-KUB / KVADRANT) according to the Czech Army, especially the Czech Ground Based Air Defence requirements.
